Kindergarten 1

Disley Private School believes that school is a child’s second home.  The kindergarten years provide the foundation for learning and the development of life skills. Our overall aim at our Kindergarten is to nurture the cognitive, social, emotional and physical development of the children in our care and to prepare them for the journey that lies ahead.  Our classrooms are equipped with furniture, resources and educational games which focus on the holistic development of every child.  We believe every child’s development is unique and therefor accommodate each child’s individual character and work on helping them develop to their full potential.  At Disley Private School he recognizes the vital role of establishing a positive relationship with children and their parents and as a result we provide opportunities for the parents to be actively involved in their children’s school life.

The students in the Kindergarten Department follow the Oxford Curriculum – First Friends program, leading to the implementation of the Cambridge International Primary Programme in Grade 1.  It emphasizes a holistic approach to child development. The methodology followed is based on a bilingual (English/Arabic), integrated thematic approach.  We will also be using the Oxford Reading Tree (ORT) guided reading program to develop their reading skills as well as a love for books and reading.

In KG 1 emphasis is placed on developing their physical, social and emotional skills as well as language.  We focus on exploring our everyday surroundings, developing our sensory skills as well as refining our fine motor control, as well as the core subjects of English, Math’s and Arabic.  Our approach is a “play-based” where the students get the opportunity to develop holistically while exploring and interacting.
