The core Cambridge subjects remain namely English, Science and Maths and integrated with additional subjects as per the Ministry of Education’s National Curriculum. Teaching and learning activities include investigations, hands on projects, informal discussions, presentations, values teaching and outdoor learning. These activities are used in conjunction with formal teaching methods and ongoing assessments like quizzes, unit tests, writing and speaking tasks and other summative tests.
We encourage creative thinking, reasoning and justification, the child’s opinion, using facts, and in math, and mechanical ability to solve problems. Students are encouraged to make suggestions and look for alternative ways of doing things. It shows how important it is to teach our children to question and think critically about things.
Students completing Grade 6 will have the opportunity to sit the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Exams for the three subjects. These exams enable the teachers to track the progression of their students against an international benchmark.
